Welcome to Leave The Light on Creations! My name is
Cara
Gaskins, and I am a Stay-at-Home Mom to three very
rambunctious little boys. I created my company in
November 2007.
It all started as a hobby. During my spare time,
I began to
create little notecards to give to my friends and
family
members. Many of them asked me to create
cards for them
to give as gifts also - and that is when all the
fun began!
After
much urging and loving support from those wonderful
people...
my company was born!

After graduating with a B.S. in Secondary Mathematical
Education, I started my professional career as an 8th grade
Math Teacher. Eventually I
decided to make a move into
publishing. In my college
days,
I had
worked as a Desktop
Publisher for the local newspaper. So
returning to the industry
was a very
natural step for me.
This is where I learned more
about the publishing process,
as well as graphic design.
My next professional move was into
IT Networking. Oddly
enough, this was where
my love of graphic design and my
desire to "create" began to truly blossom. This is also when
I
took my first steps into Web Design and Development.
After the birth of my identical
twin boys, I decided to come
home to be a
full-time Mommy. My baby boys helped foster
my creative drive. Not able to find
Birth Announcements that
could fit enough text for twins on
them, I decided to design
my own. That led to making Birthday Invitations, then Thank
You cards, and Dedication Invitations, and on and on... Now,
I
have the great joy of creating and designing new products
each
and every day! What a blessing! What fun!
The name of my company, Leave The Light On Creations, was
the brainchild of my very smart, super-talented sister. She named
it with a double-meaning in mind. I am a night owl. Terribly
nocturnal! I get my second wind around 1 am! So most nights
I am working late and "leaving the light on" as I perfect my
designs! The name is also in reference to Psalm 119:105 which
states "Your Word is a Lamp to my Feet, and a Light to my Path."
It is a daily reminder for me to leave my "light" on.
The motivation for everything I do...
